A US teacher has resigned after an investigation found they were assigning math homework with flippant questions about slavery.
One problem given to primary school students in the southern state of Georgia asked: “Each tree has 56 oranges. If eight slaves pick them equally, then how much would each slave pick?”
Another question read: “If Frederick got two beatings per day, how many beatings did he get in one week?”
In a third, students were told to calculate how many baskets of cotton Frederick filled.
